BBA Fine Arts...

Berean participates in the NCCSA Fine Arts competition every year in several different categories. In our most recent visit to Fine Arts, several of our Junior and Senior High students received high marks and some placed very highly statewide.

Elementary Fine Arts

The North Carolina Christian School Elementary Fine Arts Festival (Eastern District) will be in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29. This program is an opportunity for 3rd – 6th graders to participate in fine arts. Thursday’s competition consists of sword drill, poetry, piano solos, vocal solos, spelling bee, science fair and instrumental solos. Thursday’s competition students wear Sunday best clothing. Friday’s competition consists of instrumental ensembles, vocal ensembles, bands, orchestras, and choirs. Friday’s competition students wear uniform dress consisting of black skirts and black hose for girls, black pants for boys, short sleeved red polos and black dress shoes for all. Students are limited to two solo events. The elementary fine arts fee is $20 per student.

Berean Baptist Academy offers several clubs to prepare the students for the competition. Clubs begin meeting in March and continue until the competition date with the exception of art. Art Club begins meeting in February. Some of our clubs are art, poetry, vocal music, instrumental music, sword drill, and photography. Art and Photography Clubs are limited to 5th and 6th graders. Students may be in only one club. Club fees are $10 per student. In order to be a club member you must meet these requirements:

Attend the initial club meeting with a parent.
Sign the club pledge.
Pay your club fee.
Order your club T shirt. (Sales are final so be sure to order the correct size.)
Attend every club meeting.

Outside of this competition we also have an opportunity for competition in the area of academic testing. Academic testing is in the areas of history, science, math, and English. Competition takes place in February. Results are scored against twenty or more other Christian schools in the Eastern District. Results are available in April.

Another competition area is in the creative writing category. This competition usually takes place in October and consists of poetry and essay writing.

We would love to have some parent volunteers who would help with our clubs and could see us through to the end by helping to chaperone the event. Please come join the fun.
